Chuck
Simon has been around horses for most of his life.
Charles Edward Simon was born in 1967 in the backyard
of one of the most prestigious racing facilities in
North America, Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga
Springs, NY.
His first job with horses was when he was 15 years old
at the local harness track and a summer later he was
working with thoroughbreds at Saratoga Race Course. He
took his ambition for horses and went to the
University of Arizona and qualified for their world
renowned Racetrack Management Program. He has held
almost every possible job within the racetrack and has
experienced the industry through some of the most
notable trainers ever. He has been an assistant for
Hall of Fame Trainers Allen “The Chief” Jerkens, Nick
Zito, and D.Wayne Lukas. Chuck is married to his wife Paula, who
was a leading rider on the East Coast circuit in the
late 80’s.

The theory of TQM,
Total Quality Management, is something that Chuck
tries to incorporate into his training operation. All
horses under his care receive specialized and specific
treatment, have a racing plan regardless of class
level, and use the newest technologies to receive
optimal performances. Chuck has a fully staffed and
experienced training operation that currently stables at
Arlington Park, Churchill Downs, Fairgrounds and Gulfstream Park at their respective meets.

In a large
industry with so many facets, Chuck is well versed
within many of those different parts of the industry.
While being a trainer is his main occupation, he is
also a racehorse owner, breeder, and successful
bloodstock agent. As recent as 2005, Chuck purchased
Divine Park and Genuine Devotion from the 2005 Keeneland Yearling sale. Divine Park (purchased for
$20,000) ended up winning three graded stakes
including the 2008 Grade 1 Met Mile at Belmont Park
and is currently standing stud at Airdrie
Stud. Genuine Devotion (purchased for $90,000) sold
for $1,000,000 at the 2008 Fasig Tipton November All
Ages Sale. She won three stakes, including the Grade 3
Locust Grove Handicap at Churchill Downs. Chuck has
proved to have an eye for highly talented individuals
under the $100k price level. |
